Our Ministers

Rev. Malc Allen

I’ve been the Rector at St Michael’s Church in Bishop’s Cleeve since 2009. Before that, I was Vicar in the Rowanfield and Hester’s Way area of Cheltenham. I also have the pleasure of being Chaplain to Cheltenham Town Football Club!

I’m married to Caz and our children are Chloe and Jake.

I’ve been involved in schools in all sorts of ways for many years. I love taking assemblies and interacting with the children in school or when they visit us at St Michael’s. I think the parents are pretty all right as well!

It’s great to be part of the community, and I look forward to continuing and growing our links together.

Rev. Richard Reakes

I moved 'up north’ in 2014 and work across the Benefice of Bishop’s Cleeve with Southam, Woodmancote, Cleeve Hill, Gotherington, Woolstone and Oxenton.

I am married to Claire and have two grown-up children, Catherine and Amy. Before this I was Associate Priest of the Alham Vale Benefice of Evercreech with Chesterblade and Milton Clevedon in the Diocese of Bath and Wells. I was previously Curate of Shepton Mallet, Doulting and West Cranmore for four years and was a Lay Reader for 16 years before that. I lived in West Cranmore, where I ran the family business of funeral directors before moving to Gloucestershire. I have a passion for pastoral ministry and being immersed in community life.

Sallie Mumford

Children and Families Minister

I joined St Michael’s Church in February 2013, and have been employed as our Children and Families Minister since September 2014. I am also a Lay Reader, having been licensed since 2008.

I became a Reader while worshipping in the United Church of St Michael’s in Whaddon, and before that I worshipped at Trinity, Cheltenham.

I am wife to Bryan, mother to Luke, and stepmother to Tom and Charlotte, and chief dogwalker to Marco Polo.

I love being part of our leadership team, and encouraging everyone and anyone I know to understand a little bit more about the God who loves us and made us. In 2016, I became a Godly Play practitioner, and have been fascinated to see how Godly Play helps children (and adults actually) discover something of God inside of them.

I’m involved in leading our baptism courses, conducting thanksgivings, visiting schools, helping lead our parent and toddler groups – Praise & Play and OASIS Parents, overseeing our Sunday morning children’s groups (and teaching in Sparklers age 3-7s), confirmation groups and summer holiday club. I also love partnering with young people to help them develop their confidence and skills – and for them to teach me a thing or two! – through our internship programmes.
