A bit about our churches

Oxenton is a little larger than Woolstone with four farms and a small, well-equipped village hall, much used by the community. The church, surrounded by fields, is appreciated for its peaceful setting: its age, beauty and historic interest have earned it Grade 1 Listed status.

Gotherington is the largest of the three villages in the parish of Woolstone with Gotherington and Oxenton. There is, however, no church in the village: residents attend the churches in the other two villages of the parish or services held at The Old Chapel in Gotherington, a building run for community use by trustees. The village also has a village hall, primary school, shop, playing field and pub.

Woolstone is a small village with three farms. The medieval church is noticeable for its leaning tower. This was successfully underpinned in 1970. It contains a delightful peal of six bells. Large windows give the church a bright, sunny interior.
