Bringing Harvest Assemblies to local primary schools

Harvest Assemblies

Over the last couple of weeks, Ben and I have had the privilege of visiting two of our local primary schools to lead their Harvest assemblies.

This year, we focused on the theme of thankfulness. We encouraged the children to think about appreciating what we have, rather than dwelling on what we don't. To help illustrate this, we used a ring doughnut. Although it doesn't have a filling, it's still a doughnut, still tasty, and still something to enjoy. In the same way, our lives may not have everything we want, but there is still so much to be thankful for.

We also shared the story of Ruth, who experienced many difficult and sad circumstances. Yet through it all, she remained faithful and grateful for what God had provided.

Our challenge to the children, and to ourselves, was simple: instead of focusing on what is missing, let's take time to notice and give thanks for the many blessings we already have. Gratitude can change the way we see our lives and help us recognise God's goodness every day.
