Church closing - Tier 4 update

St Michael's Church • 31 December 2020

An update on our in-person church services - Jan 2021

Following much thought, prayer and discussion over the last couple of days, and in order to help with the efforts to contain the new variant of coronavirus, the Church Leadership Team and PCC at St Michael's have made the difficult decision to suspend corporate worship in church until further notice.

We will continue to offer a weekly online talk. You can watch or listen to Rev Malc's Talks in different ways to suit you:
  1. Live on Facebook (at 11am each Sunday)
  2. on YouTube
  3. on the Talks page of this website
  4. or listen on our Podcast.
While our Churchwardens, Stewards, and all those attending have all done an excellent job at being 'COVID-safe' in church, and we are permitted to hold worship services in Tier 4, we feel the risk is too great. The wellbeing of our congregation and those leading and taking part in our services has to be our top priority. This is not an ideal situation, of course, but we feel that this is the right course of action to do our part in these unusual circumstances.

Church is, of course, a people and not a building. We know that even though we cannot come together physically for fellowship, and that is disappointing for many and perhaps difficult for some, we are a community of God's people wherever we may find ourselves.

While corporate worship, including Sunday morning services, have been suspended, our church will remain open for private prayer each week, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10am – 11am

This decision will be reviewed regularly, and we look forward to welcoming you back into our church building as soon as we are able.
