Celebrations as Lucy Barbour begins her journey of ordained ministry

On Sunday 25 June, members of our worshipping community headed to Gloucester Cathedral to support Lucy Barbour at her ordination, while others watched from home via the Diocese of Gloucester's live stream (which you can watch back here).

Ordination is the Church’s official recognition of a person’s sense of calling to be a priest or deacon and this first step into ordination gives them the authority to do certain things in the name of God and the Church. Lucy was ordained deacon today along with seven other people.

Lucy says, "It was such a joy to be ordained with so many friends and family there, praying for and supporting me. Thank you to all those who have been holding me in their prayers, who came to the service or watched online. I feel very blessed to be in such a loving community here in Bishop's Cleeve and the surrounding villages.

"I am excited to be serving here as a curate, continuing the journey I have been on with you all for the past three years. I am also looking forward to seeing what God has in store for us all!"

After the service, photos were taken on College Green before heading back to Gotherington to celebrate with Lucy and her family over a buffet and lots of cake!

Take a look at some of the photos from the day below.
